Bruce Stowell Bruce Stowell specializes in functional handblown glass in the "Toledo" style and technique. He works with two furnaces of glass: one clear glass and one color. The glass is a soda lime base formula and contains no lead. Bruce attains his surface designs by incorporating imported glass color rods and silver. On his painted series, he uses the color rod to make threads and shards of glass that he fuses into the surface of the glass. He works alone and makes all his own pieces. Bruce has work in the permanent collection of California Crafts in the U.S. Embassy in Switzerland and has also contributed, by invitation in 1997, to the White House Blue Room Christmas tree.
